Cloudflare ships cf, a CLI whose primary user is an agent

Summary: Cloudflare states agents were 48% of Wrangler use last week, up from a quarter in March 2026 and single digits a year earlier, and that agents run nearly twice as many distinct commands per day and are about four times as likely to use six or more. Wrangler covered roughly 280 operations built by hand per product team, with inconsistent verbs across d1 info, hyperdrive get and workflows describe, while cf is generated from the same OpenAPI schema that drives Cloudflare's docs and SDKs by Forge, its now open-sourced generation pipeline, and covers over 3,000 operations. It ships as an open beta through npm i -g cf, with cf migrate for existing Workers, and Wrangler stays for projects that already use it.
Why it matters: Three design choices transfer to any CLI an agent drives: JSON output by default rather than unicode tables, a cf cli search natural-language index so an agent can locate a route without loading 3,000 paths into context, and a TypeScript cloudflare.config.ts that gives the agent's language server a schema to type-check against.
